Finding Fine Wine

I’ll be the first to admit that one does not generally think about fine wine when going to a diner. You don’t have to worry; this article is not an attempt to start some sort of revolution where expensive wines are served with dinner at diners all across the nation. But, every so often, I do like to talk about food that you might not find at your typical diner. I have always been a big fan of exploring different types of culinary preferences, so I may as well explore the classy world of wine as well.

There are some important similarities between wine and coffee, the most popular drink that is found at diners. One binds them is that their quality is greatly dependent on which location they are bought from. When it comes to coffee, you’re main concern is that you’re buying from a region that is known for its high quality coffee beans. When it comes to wine, you need a region known for its high quality grapes and wine making process. However, most people don’t have the time or energy to do the proper research to find out the best possible locations to purchase their wine from.

If you are one of those people, there are still ways to find the best possible rare wine. There are sites that are dedicated to providing the public with quality wine for fair prices. They take out all the research that a consumer would have to do, while providing him with wine that is far higher quality than what you would find at your local grocery store. So if you’re looking for some wine to spice up the dinner table, find it at http://www.sokolin.com/.

Getting Better Coffee

In a diner there is one item that someone will always be in the midst of ordering or consuming, whether its breakfast, lunch, or dinner. If you’ve taken a moment to think about it, I’m certain that you quickly realized that I was talking about coffee. For the majority of adults in the United States, and even some kids, coffee is vital for us to wake up or stay awake during the day. That is why it is so important that the coffee we drink is the best tasting and smoothest possible. Let’s face it, at this point most of us are so attached to it that we would drink it regardless of how it tasted. But we are put in the best mood when we start our day with a tasty cup.

So that’s why we are in luck that there is a powerful new force in the world of coffee. That force is Seattle Coffee Gear a website devoted to fulfilling all your coffee related needs. One of their most popular products is Lavazza Coffee Beans, which are roasted to the perfect level providing you with a cup of coffee that delivers a heavenly taste.

Moreover, the Lavazza Coffee Beans are not oily unlike coffee beans of lesser quality. That means that they will work very well with your espresso machine. So you can get to the important business of drinking your cup of coffee rather than wasting time screaming at your kitchen appliances. So if you’re tired of drinking bitter and distasteful coffee I suggest that you head over to http://www.seattlecoffeegear.com/Lavazza-Espresso-Coffee-s/42.htm and increase the quality of the coffee you drink immediately.

car singers

This guest post from Werner Rogers

It is amazing what you can see when you are sitting in Atlanta traffic after work. My commute home usually takes me about an hour (even though I live in the city). Half of the ride home, I am sitting in bumper- to- bumper traffic. I have seen everything on the ride home. I have seen people reading in their cars, putting on make-up, and even shaving! I see all types of cars and all types of people driving them. On the ride home today, I saw the driver of a Atlanta Home Security van singing Duran Duran. The funny thing was that he looked over and saw me watching him. He shrugged his shoulders, kept singing, and laughed. He had a great attitude about it. More times than not, when people get caught singing in their cars, they get really embarrassed and immediately stop singing. If you are stuck in traffic and riding side to side for half an hour, they are careful not to look over at you. They are my favorite. I have gotten caught singing in the car more than a few times.

Vegan Restaurant

As more and more people decide to adopt a healthier lifestyle there are becoming more people that are becoming vegetarian and vegan. For reasons that seem clear, these dietary choices do limit the number of restaurants that can accommodate them but it does not eliminate them it simply makes it a bit more of a challenge. Enjoy the best vegan cuisine at Vatan NYC or Vatan Jersey City for Indian food that is out of this world!

To understand the challenge better it is best to be clear on what the terms mean. This is not as easy as it seems because there is not a total consensus in either camp rather there are general rules. Steaks and hamburgers are going to be out of the question and is about the only thing everyone agrees on. Some less strict vegetarians might eat poultry, though rare, but a greater number might eat fish. Most vegetarians will eat milk and cheese but only some will eat eggs. Most avoid Jello and Oreos as well because they contain products from dead animals.

Vegans are the extreme If it ever was an animal or contains parts of something that was an animal it is off limits. This is also true is it came from an animal, like milk or eggs. This will limit where they can eat out.

Finding a place for a vegan to dine is easier in some places than others. New York, for instance, has an eclectic range of both vegetarian and vegan restaurants. The best place to start would be a restaurant guide. You can call vegetarian restaurants and ask if they are a vegan friendly restaurant as well. Most are.

Pizza Delivery

Although seen around the world, in the US pizza delivery has reached an almost iconic status and makes appearances in books, movies and television The concept is simple enough. A diner places an order from home and then when it is ready it is delivered to them. To think that is all that is involved in the operation is to be simplistic. It is much more complex than that and riddled with its own issues. Be sure to visit 7 Stars Pizza, Hoboken New Jersey for some great Italian food. Or if you are closer to New Haven, Connecticut then try Pizza Haven for some good grub.

On of the biggest problems pizza deliver places had in the past was to make and deliver the pizza was a leap of faith in that A) they wrote the address down correctly, and B) that it was an actual order and not just a prank call sending the pizza to an unknown victim. The use of online ordering has reduced that.  Let’s say you want to order from Famous Pizza – now it is easy to print out a map to the destination as well as to contact the orderer. If it was a prank, that computer can be blocked from being able to place orders again.

Another leap of faith is for the driver and their payment. In the US, most work below minimum wage and depend on tips to earn a working wage. The driver has to hope that the orderer knows and follows this custom a gives a tip.

Whether the pizza company offers 24 hour delivery or not they still want to offer the best service they can. This means getting the pizza there hot. To do this the pizza is placed in a cardboard box. Though not every environmentally friendly no one has come up with a better idea. From there the box is placed in a thermal bag to remain hot.

Now, hot pizza is served!

Chinese Takeout

If it seems like Chines takeout is rather popular you might be making a very large understatement. Currently the are more Chines restaurants in the US than any other type. It would not be uncommon at all to open a refrigerator and see those little familiar white and red boxes of take out. The question is why is that?

There are 2 main reasons that you see so many chines restaurants. The first is simple discrimination. It was not too long ago that Chinese where unable to get jobs in the US work force so many were forced to work for themselves. Many opened laundries and convenient stores while others decided to sell the one skill they had that the standard American did not have, the ability to cook Chinese food.

The second reason they are so popular is that it provides both a full meal and it reheats well. Burgers, on the other hand, do not.

What they made, however, was not exactly Chinese food. They made a version of their food that was geared more to our palate. Some things seen in US Chinese are not used in China. Broccoli is one yet it is very common in what we get. Chicken feet rarely show up in our but is common there. My Chinese consider what we eat to be “Dumbed-down Chinese” because of its simplicity.

They have made somethings easier when we order food whether in-house or online, they tend to number the menu to make it easy to order and prevent confusion. For delicious Chinese food in NJ, be sure to stop by Precious, Hoboken and try the entire menu. Or if you prefer, try China Spice Jersey City for a slightly different, yet decadent flavor.

Finally, why do all those boxes seem to look the same? That is simple. They are almost all made by the same company based in San Francisco.

Doc’s Little Gem Diner – Closed For Business

This website is a tribute to the original Doc’s Little Gem Diner. I spent many after-party nights there chowing down on their delicious food to absorb all that I took in just hours before. It was a great place and the staff was always extra-friendly. But no more, my favorite Syracuse diner has closed up shop. I noticed that their website was shut down, so I figured I’d preserve the memory of this great establishment by getting it back online :-)
